These news media backing Mr. Bio such as the GLOBAL TIMES, have resorted to publication of depraved and angry articles against anyone perceived as standing in the way of Mr. Bio’s rather violent bid to hijack the State under the guise of exercising his multi-party rights to contest the presidency of the republic. Suspect Drowns Himself in Doomed Escape Thaimu Bendu, a suspect who was arrested on 3rd August 2013 at Mabonkissa Village in the Ribbi Chiefdom, Moyamba District by Police Constable Koroma S. attached at the Waterloo Police Division has been found dead with hand cuff at Mabang Bridge. According to reports, Thaimu Bendu defrauded a huge sum of money off his business partner, Hannah Conteh of During Street, Waterloo. This resulted to Hannah reporting the matter to the police which eventually led to the arrest of the deceased. After his arrest, on their way to Waterloo onboard a boat the deceased jumped into the river with the handcuffs where he drowned and died. SALPOST Loses Le70m Monthly The consultant managing Director of the Sierra Leone Postal Services (SALPOST) Mr. Samuel Koroma has said in Freetown that his institution loses seventy million Leones monthly, which is as a result of Sierra Leoneans now preferring to do business with private postal services as they have lost faith in the operations of SALPOST. He said they inherited huge loans both locally and international which is seriously affecting their operations. He pointed out that SALPOST lacks serious capital investment. Ten Year Old Boy Disappears Ten years old Alie Tarawally of Masiaka Town in Port Loko District has been missing for the past one month. According to the Mother Mariatu Tarawally, his child went out to sell cooked groundnut sometimes last month and since then, she has not set eyes on him, adding that after intensive fruitless search in and out of the township for her son, she reported the matter to the Masiaka Police Station and the Paramount Chief of Koya Chiefdom, P.C. Bai Kompa Bomboli II, who has also dispatched youths in search of the missing Alie Tarawally. The search, she said, is still ongoing. Airtel Rising Stars Ends In Makeni The 2013 edition of Airtel’s Youth football development programme known as Airtel Rising Stars, came to a close past Sunday at the Wusum Grounds in Makeni with Freetown stars from the Western area emerging as winning male team and Makeni starlets from the Northern Region emerging as female victors. Both teams will be traveling to Nigeria to take part in the Pan-African Youth Tournament in September this year, where they will compete with other winners of Airtel Rising Stars. UNDP/COOPI Empowers Grassroots communities The UNDP-funded one year pilot project which was implemented by the Italian organization COOPI, aimed at making women’s property and land rights a reality in several Kono Chiefdoms, has ended a Training of Trainers workshop for grassroots women leaders in the five chiefdoms. This aimed at expanding the women’s knowledge on property and land rights. Several leaders of grassroots women organizations, after the training have since embarked on a sensitization drive in their various chiefdoms. 95% of grassroots women are reported to have been totally denied land, property and in heritance of their late husbands, according to research conducted by COOPI.
