NEWS FEED: Sad news in the animation world today as DreamWorks Animation announced the layoffs of 500 staff and a commitment cutback from three films per year to two films per year. The studio has been in strife for a while now, having not produced a runaway success since The Croods in early 2013. Even How to Train Your Dragon 2 performed lower than expected in the U.S., which is not to mention the flops of several original films in 2014 and 2013 and the currently whimpering box office returns of Penguins of Madagascar. All of this together means that some big changes was inevitable for the studio even if it is a shame to see so many jobs in the industry go. DreamWorks Animations next film, Home, is due to be released in Australia on March 19th, 2015.
