NEWS FLASH. MAADA BIO CALLS ON PRESIDENT KOROMA FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST EBOLA H E Tommy Massaquoi The Former Head of State of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio has called on The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma for the fight against Ebola. The President and the Former Head of State have held a very fruitful and useful meeting at State House today on the ongoing fight against Ebola. The Former Head of State arrived in Freetown on Saturday, 9th August, 2014 as part of his determination to join the Ebola campaign. It could be recalled that in several Press Releases the Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio has called on all Sierra Leoneans to join the government in the fight against this deadly virus. A typical example was the Press Release he issued on the 2nd June 2014 in which he stated that most Sierra Leoneans, including himself, believed that the Ebola outbreak posed a challenge that went far beyond the travails of politics or the boundaries of region nor within the capability of the fragile infrastructure of our national health service. He also made a clarion call for a united national effort to confront the contagion just as we had done in responding to the devastations of the rebel war. He has always emphasised the need for a comprehensive national strategy to respond to cases identified all over the country. Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio is calling on all Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to join the in the effort of, the Government of Sierra Leone in the campaign against this deadly epidemic. We are all in this together as one country and one people. His message to every household and to every family throughout the length and breadth of Sierra Leone is that Ebola is real and it kills but it can be controlled; help to prevent its transmission by adhering to the Governments medical advice and to the Ebola sensitization campaigns of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. In doing this, both men have demonstrated leadership and true statesmanship, who are viewing the Ebola fight beyond the boundaries of political party politics. We also thank President Koroma for opening his door to discuss such national issue with members of other political parties. Stay tuned for more details
