Falana said the leaders promoted religion to the detriment of the unity of the people. Joseph Makoju, group executive director, Dangote Group, said grid power unavailability and insufficiency affect LPG bottling plants negatively, owing to high cost of providing diesel generators and operating expenses, which have impact of profitability and service reliability. Makoju, who was formerly the head of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), said primary petrochemical industry, which produce raw materials for plastic fabrication industry, consume a lot of power, stressing that anticipated high capital expenditure on diesel, which has capacity to erode profitability, makes entry barrier to the industry in the country one of the highest in the world. N100 centenary note FG unveils N100 centenary note– Daily Independent President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday formally unveiled the new commemorative N100 banknote to be put in circulation to celebrate Nigeria’s 100 years of nationhood. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, presented the note to Jonathan for launch shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting. The CBN boss explained that the new note was produced with the most advanced security features available in the world. Emefiele listed the design platforms on which the note was made to include security, durability, attractiveness, cultural heritage and transformation. FEC approves N100bn for road, water projects- National Mirror The Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday, approved over N100 billion contracts for road projects in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as well as other infrastructural development in parts of the country. Briefing State House Correspondents at the end of the council meeting, Supervising Minister of Information, Nurudeen Mohammed said the Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed presented memo on the road construction in the territory. While speaking on the project, the FCT Minister disclosed that council approved contract for the construction of one service carriageway (14km) of Inner Northern Expressway (INEX) from Ring road 111 to Ring road IV Abuja Industrial Park in favour of Messrs Salini Nig Ltd, in the sum of N7,179,322,294.15 with a completion period of 24 months We are ready to ground Unilag —ASUU– Tribune The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos chapter, has declared that it is prepared to embark on a total and indefinite strike should the management of the institution fail to address its demands. Chairman of the union, Dr Adelaja Odukoya, made this known at a protest rally conducted on the campus of the institution by the union on Wednesday. He said “strike will be our last resort. We are not interested in strike. That’s why we are doing this rally, this sensitisation... In the event of failure, however, we will be forced to go on a total, indefinite, comprehensive, strike that will ground the school.” Hundreds of academic staff members marched from faculty to faculty, waving placards and posters that enumerated their demands. In the audio message, the Sinai-based militant group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, or ABM, allegedly announces its allegiance to ISIS, which calls itself the Islamic State. The roughly 10-minute clip blames tyrants and their Jewish agents and their allies for decades of Muslim suffering. The message also calls ISIS the emergence of a new dawn. If verified, this would be a new, dangerous chapter for the deadliest group in Egypt. Since 2012, ABMs attacks have grown more daring and sophisticated. The group has killed hundreds of Egyptian police officers and soldiers. The largest attack was last month in the Sinai Peninsula, killing at least 31 soldiers. Analysts put the groups numbers at from the hundreds to roughly a thousand.
