NEWS:"Gang attacks man in bus, steals Rs. 15 lakh" An autorickshaw-borne gang attacked a businessman inside an MTC bus in Santhome on Thursday night and fled with his bag reportedly containing Rs. 15 lakh. Mylapore police sources said the robbery took place around 10.30 p.m. when the victim Raja alias Subbiah (42) was travelling with the cash on a bus on route number 19 M to Thiruvanmiyur. Raja, a native of Nagapattinam had come to Chennai on Thursday morning and visited his friend Karim in Manadi who gave him Rs. 15 lakh as loan for the purchase of property. He was heading to Thiruvanmiyur to board a bus to Nagapattinam. The gang followed Raja in an autorickshaw and a few men boarded the bus and suddenly attacked the victim. They snatched the cash bag and attempted to flee in the autorickshaw. Some onlookers gave a chase and managed to nab one suspect and handed him over to police while the vehicle sped away with the others, sources added. Mylapore police are investigating.
