NEWS: HAINES KEEN FOR ANOTHER BITE AT PLAY-OFFS FIFE FLYERS defenceman Kyle Haines says he enjoyed his taste of the play-offs last year - now he wants a proper bite at it. The 27-year-old was one of many that returned to Kirkcaldy for a second season after such a good end to the last campaign. But he warns that the team has to keep battling away if they are to repeat their play-off heroics. He said: There was an element of unfinished business coming back here, especially after the way we performed in the play-offs and losing by that one goal to Belfast. It was a tight game, but it was a great experience and getting a taste of it, you want more. We want the whole bite. Its been good to have some of the core guys come back for this year and we took a while to get going this year to be honest. Its a long way to go, but well keep on chipping away every weekend and well see where the chips fall at the end of the season. Haines signed for the club almost a year ago and has become an integral player in the Flyers D. Their weekend fortunes were mixed then they despatched Braehead Clan 6-2 before going down to a narrow 4-3 loss to Edinburgh Capitals. Looking ahead, Flyers only have one game this weekend, when they host Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night. Haines has called upon the rest of his team to find consistency after two weekends where they won on Saturday, but lost on Sunday. He added: We have a couple of weekends coming up where we only have one game, but we have to come to battle every night. Once we did find our rhythm, we picked up great wins at Belfast and Nottingham, but there are times when we struggle to find consistency. On the whole, the league is very good and so tight as well. Anyone can beat anyone and weve seen some weird results so far. If we can find that level, starting this weekend against the Panthers, then it would be a great thing for this team.
