NEWS: Jonathan 2015: Evah, Ogoriba meets Fasheun, Gani Adams on July 22, 2013 at 1:00 am in News Ahead of 2015 elections, a delegation from the Niger Delta ledby Elder Timi Ogoriba and ComradeJoseph Evah of the Ijaw Monitoring Group recently paid a visit to the founder of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC; Dr. Fredrick Fasheunand Otunba Gani Adams; National Coordinator of OPC in Lagos to harmonies their political goals towards the re-election of President Jonathan. The Niger Delta group addressed the press after meeting the OPC leaders at two separate closed door sessions. Elder Ogoriba said “We have founda brother here in Fasheun. We are here to solidarise with him and thank him. Our group seek to help Jonathan go in for another term and we have found an ally in Fasheun who consistently fights for the minority in this country.” Dr Fasheun thanked the group for the visit stating this was the ‘One Nigeria’ he had always spoken about when tribe and religion lays no barrier in the building blocks ofnationhood. He maintained he would continue to fight against injustice and intimidation of the minority as he had done for HamzaAl-Mustapha. After his session with the group, Gani Adams emerged to insist it was not a political sitting. “Our meeting centred on the general interest of the nation. We discussed security and economic gains in the country amongst other issues. It is not an endorsement for Jonathan”, he said. Leader of the Ijaw Monitoring Group Joseph Evah reacted to feelers from certain northern elements who do not want the President to re-run in the general elections. He said “Everybody is fighting for their own right and interest and we understand. The same northerners supported us when they insisted that after the death of Yaradua, Jonathan must not remain the acting President. The same northerners led by a northern senate president and speaker mobilsed their own people to support us. It is to this reason that we know that along the line we believe they will reasonwith us”
