# NEWS: Kumar Waii inaugurates RWD office at Lumla -Arunachal Times TAWANG, Nov 27: RWD Minister Kumar Waii yesterday inaugurated the Sub-Divisional RWD office at Lumla in presence of Tourism, Urban Development and Art & Culture Minister Pema Khandu. Later addressing a public meeting at Lumla, Kumar Waii called upon the leaders to work selflessly for the welfare of the people and emphasized on the need of tapping hydro power. Pema, in his speech, explained the vitality of preserving the age old art, culture and traditions of the Monpas. He also expressed happiness over the rapid development of Lumla circle under the leadership of local MLA, Jambey Tashi.Touching the pending issue of the demand for Mon Autonomous region, the minister informed that delegates from the Buddhist belt are constantly in touch with Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju regarding the demand.We are all geared up for the meeting with Kiren during his visit to the district next month and are optimistic that our demand for an autonomous district will be fulfilled, he said. He further informed that a delegate from the Buddhist belt will visit His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to commemorate 55 years of his sermon in Tawang, the first in the nation. Parliamentary Secretary (RWD) and local MLA Jambey Tashi appealed for unity and sought cooperation from everyone in the development of the region while urging the people to forget party differences and join hands together for all round development. We the three legislators of the district are toiling hard for the Lumla-Tashigang road which if regulated, will be a boon for the district, he said. Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi advocated for the need of quality education, terming it as the sure cure for the unemployment issue. In this period of cut-throat competition, only the fittest and the most eligible can survive, he said, while urging the teachers and parents to shoulder their responsibility to provide the best education and guidance to the youth. He further appealed for cooperation from all sector for preparations for the forthcoming visit of the noble laureate, HH the 14th Dalai Lama to Tawang next year. Tawang today is in need of cooperation, brotherhood, unity and partnership more than ever and it is time that we work as a united team, he stated. Parliamentary Secretary (Hydro Power) Phurpa Tsering stressed on the need to harness Hydro power and termed it as the lifeline for the nation. Some ill intentioned and anti-social elements and NGOs are objecting to the hydro-power projects in the area. They are creating confusion and spreading false rumours among the public as they envy the progress and development of the district and the state. APEDA chairman Dikto Yaker, Chairman DoKAA Jambey Wangdi, DC Tawang Abishek Dev and ZPC Tawang also spoke on the occasion.
