NEWS RELEASE Home Invasion/ Robbery August 22, 2013 On Thursday, August 22, 2013, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers of the West Point Police Department responded to the West Point Housing Authority in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers, they met with the victim Willie Fears. Mr. Rears stated a suspect, whom he recognized, came to his residence and knocked on the door. Fears said that he opened the door and observed “Quez” and two other black males. The males, wearing white rags over the tops of their heads, enter his apartment uninvited. Fears described them as young black males, possibly in their late teens or early twenties, about 5’06” and having slender builds. Fears stated when he saw “Quez” with the two other males; he became suspicious of their intent. He stated he immediately ran out the front door of his apartment and into the street crossing over Avenue K. Fears stated as he ran into a small field between the 1300 block apartments on Avenue K; he tripped and fell to the ground. Fears said while he was on the ground, he felt the suspect’s hands going through his pant pockets. The suspects took his money and then fled the location on foot.
