NEWS RELEASE JUNE 1, 2013 158 Pasay cops deployed to schools on monday A total of 158 policemen from the Pasay City Police Station will be deployed to 47 schools within the City by way of a police assistance desk that will be manned by 2 shifting policemen per school to assure the public of a safe and orderly opening of classes on Monday, June 3. The deployment is in line with the directive given by Pasay City Mayor Antonino “Tony” Calixto to the Pasay PNP and the different front line offices of the City Government to be ready for any security concern during the opening of classes. “We have addressed the infrastructure and furniture requirements of our various schools but we should not forget to address the security aspect as well, so that parents need not worry, knowing that their children are safe inside and outside their schools”, Calixto said. Calixto added that “education is very important. It is a great equalizer that is why we in the City Government are taking steps to provide a conducive learning environment for our students. Consequently, part of it is assuring their safety inside and outside the school campuses.” Aside from increased police visibility, Calixto is also deploying 14 traffic officers in the 14 schools located in heavily populated areas. They will help decongest traffic bottlenecks and ensure the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. For his part, Pasay City Chief of Police P/SSupt. Rudolfo Llorca made an assurance to the almost 60,000 students of Pasay who are set to return to their respective schools on the opening of classes. “From traffic flow to security, the police will be on top of everything, to prevent crime within and around the vicinity of schools, address security concerns and protect students from criminals who are out to victimize them.” I am talking particularly about the salisi gangs who may take advantage of students, that is why tapped the help of our force multipliers such as the Pasay City Police Accredited NGO (PCPAN) and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) to help us to go after these criminals,” said Llorca.
