NEWS RELEASE November 15, 2014 On Friday, November 14, 2014, at approximately 10:53pm, patrol officers from the City of Burlington Police Department went into the area of the 100 Block of East Federal Street in an attempt to serve an outstanding warrant on an individual. As officers arrived, a patrol officer observed a subject run into an alleyway. When the officer approached the alleyway in an attempt to identify the individual, the officer was attacked and sustained injury by the suspect who continued to run from other officers onto the 500 Block of York Street. Officers requested assistance from the Burlington Township Police Department and Burlington County Bridge Commission Police Department. Moments later, the suspect, identified as Rashon Causey, age 36, of Burlington City, was spotted by officers and another foot pursuit ensued with Mr. Causey being placed into custody after another physical altercation with officers occurred. Mr. Causey was wanted on several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was then taken to the City of Burlington Police Department. At the City of Burlington Police Department, Mr. Causey was irate and damaged a fingerprint computer station located in the police station processing room. The injured officer was transported to Lourdes Medical Center, Willingboro Campus. The officer has been unable to return to duty and suffered a separated shoulder from the attack. He was treated and released. Rashon Causey was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, two counts of Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, Hindering his Own Apprehension, and Criminal Mischief. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $63,500 No 10% Bail.
