NEWS RELEASE PARKING RULES IN OLD TOWN BLUFFTON Back in November the Town of Bluffton designated No Parking areas along Calhoun Street with painted striping and added a four-way stop at the intersection of Lawrence and Calhoun streets. Since those changes were implemented, the Bluffton Police Department has monitored compliance and directed efforts at educating the public about appropriate parking in that area. Since November, the Department has issued approximately 200 warnings to citizens about their parking. The most common violation involves people parking their vehicles over onto the sidewalk area. There is no raised curbing here so we ask that motorists be conscious of the markings and avoid obstruction of the sidewalk. The Department will now return to issuing citations for unlawfully parked vehicles. We are hoping for voluntary compliance from citizens so that everyone, both driver and pedestrian, may continue to enjoy the Old Town Bluffton area.
