NEWS TIME- Business & Economy: RBI may opt for status quo on interest rate For many reasons, the Reserve Bank of India’s forthcoming bi-monthly policy statement for 2014-15 will be unique. The idea to have a policy statement once in two months was mooted by the Urjit Patel Committee. The RBI is signalling acceptance of some of the recommendations, which do not involve discussion with the government. However, the core recommendations of the Committee’s report involving inflation targeting and shifting the monetary policy’s anchor to CPI (retail ) inflation, instead of WPI, will be implemented only after a consensus is reached. Indias forex reserves rise to $298.63 billion Indias foreign exchange (forex) reserves rose by USD 1.34 billion to USD 298.63 billion for the week ended March 21,Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed. This is the fourth consecutive week of increase in the countrys forex reserves as overseas investors poured in money in local bonds and stock markets. The forex reserves had jumped by USD 1.83 billion for the week ended March 14. Coca Cola tops most-powerful brands list Coca Cola has topped the list of worlds most popular brands list. CoreBrand’s analysis, which is the most powerful tech brand, has come out with the list of 100 most elite brands list for 2014. Anand finished unbeaten in 14 rounds, aggregating 8.5 points after three wins and 11 draws. On a day when Sergey Karjakin pressed hard for a 94-move win against top seed Levon Aronian in seven hours to claim the runner-up spot, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Vladimir Kramnik drew in just 30 moves.
