NEWS UPDATE: AILING GOVERNOR SUNTAI, ACTING GOVERNOE UMAR GARBA, MEMBERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AND THE ENTIRE PEOPLE OF TARABA STATE AS WEL,L AS NIGERIA, DESCRIBED SPEAKERS DEATH AS SHOCKED!!! The family of Manu Tsokwa Nafinji has formally announced the death of their son and speaker Taraba State house of assembly Hon. Haruna Tsokwa. A statement by Rev. Martin Tsokwa for the family says the speaker will be buried on the twenty eight of this month in his home town Takum, the speaker died at the early hour of yesterday at the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo after a brief illness. Governor Danbaba Suntai has described the death of the speaker as shocking and a loss not only to the state but Nigeria and the Democracy. In a press statement signed by the chief press secretary to the governor, Hassan Mijinyawa said the speaker was a man of repute and has performed creditably well during his stay in the house. It regretted that the speaker died at a time when the state is facing political crisis which is normal in a vibrant democracy. It added that late Tsokwa will be remembered for his ability to stand firm on any cause he believe in and for his contribution to Democracy in the state. Governor Suntai joined Tarabans, Legislatures and state government in prayers for the repose of the soul of the speaker and also prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Similarly the Taraba State Acting governor, Alh. Garba Umar has commiserated with the family of late Haruna Tsokwa speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly. The acting governor who was at the residence of the speaker said he received the news of his death with great shocked. He called on the members of the family and the entire state to bear the irreparable loss and called for prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased. The acting governor promised to assist the family through sponsoring the children in continuation of their education. Alh. Garba Umar also explained that government will take the responsibilities of the burial arrangement stated for twenty eight of this month in Takum his home town. Responding, the deputy speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly Hon. Tanko Adamu Maikarfi and Rev. Martin Tsokwa thanked the acting governor for identifying with the family during their trying moments. Haruna Tsokwa was born on fifteen of june, nineteen sixty six in Takum local government council, Taraba State. He hold Bsc Degree in Accountancy from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State. He served the government in various capacities and later joined politics where he was elected member representing Takum one constituency in the state house of assembly under the People Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011. He was elected speaker of the House of Assembly on the second April this Year, the position he hold until his death. Sympathizers, friends and well wishers have continue to troop in their large numbers to the speaker’s house to commiserate with the family and members of the Taraba State House of Assembly over the death of the speaker in his residence, Lassandi, Jalingo. Sympathizers Mr. Joel Andrew said the death of Haruna Tsokwa is not only a loss to the state house of assembly, but to the entire state and the country as a whole. Some people are of the view that his death may be connected with the current political crisis been experienced in some months back. END
