NEWS UPDATE AT 3PM WITH ORANGE President Museveni has urged Ugandans to remain calm, saying that there is no need to panic as the situation in Bundibugyo, Kasese and Ntoroko districts where over 90 people were butchered over the weekend is now under control. Museveni who attributes the clashes to deep-seated sectarian and hate speeches by some cultural leaders whom he referred to as actively fomenting sectarianism and tribal chauvinism, has blamed the attacks on intelligence failure, wondering how such acts were hatched without being detected. The South Sudan government has stepped up security in Upper Nile State to persuade civilians who fled their homes in December last year after the breakout of war to return to their homes. The Secretariat was devastated in the recent conflicts in the town, but was rehabilitated after the government regained control of Malakal. The inspector general of police Irene Mulyagonja has called for an investigation to examine the conduct of the advocates of Kampala Associated Advocates involved in securing the award of the contract from the Attorney General and take appropriate disciplinary action against them. This as The Inspectorate of Government received a complaint where it was alleged that the Ministry of Justice was set to pay a whooping 2.8bn shs to Kampala Associated Advocates in the case of Jesse Mashate versus Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in London over the closure of his newspaper by President Museveni in the 1980s. The High Court in Kampala is set to give a ruling on the refinery affected people’s application for an interim injunction against government’s continued alleged human rights violations in the oil region on the 14th of July. The people living in and around the area where the refinery will be set up want government to stop all activities in the refinery affected area until those affected are fully compensated. The hearing of the interim injunction was held last Friday. Mao says there has never been any tribal conflict that results into the attacking of security installations. He demanded that government should come out clearly and admit the poor intelligence displayed despite the existence of several intelligence units in the country. Afghan presidential contender Abdullah Abdullah has claimed victory in last months poll, despite results giving a lead to his rival, Ashraf Ghani. Addressing supporters in Kabul, Mr Abdullah repeated claims that the election process was marred by fraud.US Secretary of State John Kerry had earlier warned against a power grab, amid reports that Mr Abdullah was planning a parallel government. The south African court has adjourned the hearing of the murder case against Oscar pistorius to 7th of August after Some witnesses refused to testify at the televised trial of Oscar Pistorius as they never wanted their voices to be heard all over the world.
