NEWS UPDATE AT 4PM WITH ORANGE Government is to spend 5 billion shillings in removing silt from river Nyamwamba in order to contain the floods that are experienced in this area whenever in rains. The state minister for works John Byabagambi who is currently in Kasese region to assess the situation says government is working towards fixing all the bridges that were carried away by the flood waters. Meanwhile locals have expressed fear of another sporadic flooding after signs of rain in the area. Five people lost their lives in floods that forced Kilembe mines hospital to be closed. Residents of Mubende have been filled with grief after one of their own died in a gold mine. 37 year old Robert Obo was buried by soil while digging deep in search for gold. Police has called upon miners to be extra cautious more especially during the rainy season as soils tender to wear out.
