NEWS UPDATE: From Wayne Police Department On Nov. 23, 2014 at approximately 11:54 a.m., the Wayne Police Department responded to the railroad tracks at Venoy Road to investigate a train/pedestrian fatality accident. Police officers confirmed the deceased was a 12-year-old Westland resident. Initial reports and witness statements point to a very tragic accident. The victim and a friend were on foot and were attempting to cross the railroad tracks and beat the oncoming train. The friend stopped before crossing the tracks and the victim continued and was struck by the train. The Wayne Police Department extends its prayers and condolences to the family of the victim and will continue to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of this tragic event.
