"NEWS UPDATE" GUNMEN KIDNAP 5 DREDGING WORKERS IN BAYELSA CREEK. YENAGOA-Five works attached 2 a dredging firm,BEKS KIMSE Nig.Ltd,have been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen along d creek of Opuama in southern Ijaw L.G.A of Bayelsa State. The kidnappers,it was learnt,are demanding #30 million ransom b4 their captives would be released. The dredging firm,sources told vanguard,is handing d shore protection & reclamation work at d riverside opuama town. The project,it was learnt,is being sponsored by Niger Delta Development Comission [NDDC]to save d erosion troubled community. Though information abut d alleged kidnap of d wrks was sketchy,a community source to our crospondent dt they were seized in d early hours of friday. It was learnt dt d abducted wrkers identified as Inoku Godwin,Sam Ede, Jackson Ibani,among others,are 4rm Beyelsa & River states. The [gunmen] were said to hve sporadically shot into d air 2 scare away d natives 4rm coming 2 d aid of d workers. An indigen of d area said :The wrkers were seized by the gunmen who stormed d dredger in a speedboat & disappeared wit their victims whose whereabouts are unknown. My question is what is the way forward in ds country?I need ur comment.
