NEWS UPDATES AT 7 O’CLOCK WITH ORANGE. President Museveni is expected to have a meeting with representatives of South Sudan Vice President Riek Machar today. This meeting was brokered by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo after request from Museveni to meet, such that misunderstandings between the two leaders are aired out and rectified. However, Presidential Press Secretary, Tamale Mirundi has denied any possibility of occurrence of such a meeting. Police is expected to exhume about 10 to 15 bodies of people in Bundibugyo district that are believed to have been secretly buried in mass graves following the Rwenzori attacks. Although the army buried 55 in a mass grave at Kanyamwirima Army Barracks, three other mass graves have been found by the residents. If the police force gets a court order and experts involved ready, the exercise is likely to kick off today. Residents and district leaders said they suspect most of the dead were killed in reprisal attacks. However, the Bundimulombi village chairperson, Andrew Batalingaya, in whose area the graves are located, denied that there were inter-tribal killings in the district. Former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, John Kashaka, has appealed to the court of appeal against the 10 year sentence handed to him by the anti-corruption court. Kashaka is dissatisfied with the ruling. Kashaka was convicted of causing financial loss of over 4.2 billion shillings in a botched 70,000 bicycle deal. He was convicted with other five officials; former principal accountant Henry Bamutura, former principal procurement officer Robert Mwebaze, former assistant commissioner policy and planning Sam Emorutu Erongot, former consultant Timothy Musherure and member evaluation committee Adam Bond Alum. They are free to appeal as well within a period of 10 days if the feel dissatisfied with their sentences. Nigerias militant Islamists are in control of the key town of Damboa in north-eastern Nigeria, a local vigilante leader has said. The vigilante force defending the town fled on Sunday, and Islamist group Boko Harams black flag is now flying over Damboa. At least 40 people were killed when Boko Haram attacked Damboa on Friday, the vigilante leader added. The group has been fighting since 2009 to create an Islamic state in Nigeria. In April, it sparked international outrage by abducting more than 200 girls from their boarding school in Chibok, in Borno state, like Damboa. Rebels in eastern Ukraine have handed over two flight-data recorders from the downed MH17 plane to Malaysian experts. A senior rebel leader signed them over to the Malaysian officials at a meeting in the city of Donetsk. The handover came hours after the UN Security Council voted unanimously to demand immediate international access to the crash site. The Malaysian Airlines passenger jet crashed last Thursday, killing all 298 people on board. Western nations say there is growing evidence that flight MH17 was hit by a Russian-supplied missile fired by rebels, but Russia has suggested Ukrainian government forces are to blame. European Union foreign ministers are expected to discuss further measures against Russia later on Tuesday. Both the EU and the US have imposed sanctions on Moscow following its annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of hostilities in eastern Ukraine. RADIOCITY NEWS: BRINGING THE WORLD CLOSER TO YOU!
