NEWS UPDATES WITH ORANGE. Uganda Peoples Defence Forces will not utterly withdraw from South Sudan rather soldiers from the “theatre of war” will be pulled out at the deployment of the regional peace keeping force. Government has revealed that the army will remain in parts of the world’s newest country in the hunt for LRA rebels. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa told Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee that they have been in South Sudan with the Americans but once IGAD (Inter-Governmental Authority on Development) Forces are in place, they shall cease to fight in the current war between the warring factions and start pursuing the LRA. UPDF troops were deployed to South Sudan in December last year after President Salva Kiir’s disagreements with his vice president Riek Machar declined into fierce military clashes. An audit has been instituted at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation to ascertain how former Managing Director Paul Kihika handled the activities at the corporation. Kihika took over as MD in July 2011 on temporary basis to manage the public broadcaster until a permanent management would be established. Board members have now undertaken studying the documents obtained from Kihika’s office following the forceful entry, as the new acting managing director (MD), Eng Angello Nkezza, assumed office on Monday. Nkezza was appointed to act for three months as the board processes the recruitment of a substantial MD. Information minister Rose Namayanja, approved his appointment. Following the increased cases of car theft by car washers, police has warned motorist against leaving their keys at washing bays as investigations reveal that the keys are imprinted on a piece of soap, a key is made and thereafter the car is trailed until its stolen. Apple and Samsung have agreed to withdraw all legal cases against each other outside the United States. A Dutch firm has been chosen to carry out the underwater search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, Australia has announced. Fugro Survey will use two vessels to search a swathe of the Indian Ocean. The ships would use side-scan sonar, multi-beam echo sounders and video cameras to locate and identify the aircraft debris. The search of the 60,000 sq km (23,000 sq mile) area will begin in September and is expected to take up to a year. It’s been about 5months since the Malaysian plane disappeared on 8th March as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, carrying 239 people. US Secretary of State John Kerry has urged Israel and the Palestinians to take advantage of the Gaza truce to move towards broader negotiations. Mr Kerry said the situation could concentrate minds on the need to negotiate a two-state solution. A 72-hour humanitarian truce is holding in Gaza, halting a four-week conflict that has claimed more than 1,900 lives.
