NEWS: With the one-year anniversary of the June 2013 flood - TopicsExpress

NEWS: With the one-year anniversary of the June 2013 flood approaching, and the rainfall across Southern Alberta over the weekend, there is good news with local river flows. As of 8:30am this morning, the South Saskatchewan River was flowing at a rate of 375 cubic metres per second - down from 397 at 11:15pm Saturday, and a high of 761 in May. The flow rate of 375 is well below the threshold of any localized flooding. After speaking with Alberta Environment this morning, Director of Emergency Management Ron Robinson says at this point, there is no indication that flow levels upstream of Medicine Hat are posing any concern. However, heavy rainfall warnings are in effect in SW Alberta through Wednesday that could see up to 150mm in the Pincher Creek area, so officials will continue to monitor the levels closely in the days and weeks to come.
