NEXT MONTH! Ann Sheridan, a popular actress at Warner Brothers, - TopicsExpress

NEXT MONTH! Ann Sheridan, a popular actress at Warner Brothers, was known as The Oomph Girl (a title she loathed). She would have been 100 in 2015. Although primarily a dramatic actress, she would venture into the world of comedy now and then. In this two-part series, we will discuss, and view two film adaptations of comedies by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. Both films were released in 1942, and were directed by William Keighley: In The Man Who Came To Dinner, Sheridan is joined by Monty Wooley and Bette Davis. Sheridan portrays an actress involved in one of Whitesides (Wooley) schemes; In George Washington Slept Here, Sheridan and Jack Benny are a married couple who attempt to fix up an old, dilapidated farm house, that might have provided an evening of rest for the Father of our country. Dates: Man Who Came To Dinner: January 9th; George Washington Slept Here-January 16th. Fee for course: $40. Two Sessions. To register: Please call 516-299-2580. Classes are presented in Lorber Hall, on the LIU: Post campus.
