NFL goes tablet hi-tech on sidelines The NFL has signed a $400 million deal with Microsoft for the teams to use Surface tablets during game time. Each team will have the use of 25 tablets, 12 for the coaches, and 13 for use on the sidelines. Players and coaches get to see pictures of recent plays, and it is rumored the referees may use tablets to review plays in the future, replacing the current “hooded review” station. Technicians have worked for 18 months to get the technology right for this usage.
