NFL running back Darren Sproles no longer plays in Southern California, but he clearly wants to make the area his home. Sproles, who now soars with the Philadelphia Eagles, recently purchased a $2.8 million home in Poway, CA, about 30 miles north of downtown San Diego. Sproles bought the new house just weeks after selling his home in Santaluz, a golf community on the San Diego coast. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Sproles sold the Santaluz house for $2.63 million. Listing agent Daniel Beer told the Union-Tribune that Sproles bought the Poway home because it offers more space and better views. It is also close to the Maderas Golf Course. The new, single-level house is 8,844 square feet on a stately 4.44-acre lot. The living room is regal, with a masonry fireplace, a high ceiling with elegant crown molding and an arched window wall that looks out to the patio. The family room is a nice contrast, offering a rustic feel with its wood plank-and-beam ceiling and wood column accents. A huge, gourmet kitchen is covered with wood cabinetry. A center island expands the work space, and there are two sinks, a double refrigerator, a double oven and granite counters. The master suite has two sets of glass doors that open to the patio. The master bathroom has his-and-her vanities and a tub with a view. The house has a total of six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. Other features are also included: An office with cherry wood paneling, a masonry fireplace and a boxed beam ceiling Theater with seating for six An attached guesthouse with a living room, bedroom and bathroom A free-form vanishing-edge pool with spa An outdoor fireplace on the patio A tennis court In the NFL, the diminutive Sproles is known as an all-purpose back who can provide an offense with a quick jolt. Over his 10-year career, Sproles has racked up 2,550 yards rushing, 3,768 yards receiving, and 10,423 total return yards. He’s also played for the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints.
