NFPA tools provide support for electrical safety campaigns: May is National Electrical Safety Month, an annual campaign headed by the Electrical Safety Foundation International to educate people about reducing the number of electrically-related fires, fatalities, injuries, and property loss. NFPA statistics shows that U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated annual average of 47,820 home structure fires involving electrical failure or malfunction in 2007-2011, which resulted in 455 deaths and 1,518 injuries.
