NFU Reserves Match Report Match Report North Ferriby Reserves 5 - 1 Hodgsons. The young villagers hosted Hodgsons of County League 1 in the senior Cup 2nd round yesterday at South Hunsley. The squad included David Kocsis, Paul Wray and Fraser McNab who this week registered on non contract terms with the first team as cover but unfortunately due to technicalities didnt travel to Lowestoft with the 1st team. Busilana Kashilembo did travel and was 17th man down in Anglia. The reserves started brightly and Paul Wray latched onto a through ball after only 20 seconds and lashed home but was flagged offside despite it being very close. The home team didnt take long to open the scoring though and shortly after Oliver Skerrett curled home a 30 yard free kick over the wall and beyond the keeper to make it 1-0. Hodgsons were struggling to cope with the forward play of Wray, Matt Turner and Keane Parsons and it was Parsons who drew a foul in the box to win a penalty which Ricky Collier tucked away with his 4th goal of the season to make it 2-0. The experienced Hodgsons side grew frustrated and the left back who had already been booked for the penalty was lucky not to see red after a crude body check on Lewis Dennison. A lapse in concentration then allowed Hodgsons back in just before half-time to make the half time score Ferriby 2-1 Hodgsons. The 2nd half started frantically with Karl Bellis making a wonderful save to tip an effort around for a corner. From the resulting clearance and counter-attack Lewis Dennison latched onto a mistake to make the score 3-1 to Ferriby and settle the game. Then after an hour good work down the left from Josh Josh Barrett and Matt Turner helped to set up Captain Max Brentano to slide a shot past the keeper to make it 4-1 for his 4th goal of the season. The Hodgsons players were now resorting to foul play on many occasions as they became tired and from a direct free-kick Paul Wray curled over and around the wall into the top corner to make it 5-1. The reserves had many chances to increase the score with Thomas Negebe, Will Rogerson and Martin Jones coming off the bench and creating more havoc but the away keeper was on fine form. The match ended in an unsavory way with another over the top challenge by a tiring Hodsgons defender on Parsons which then saw both players red carded after the defender raised his hands before taking Parsons in a headlock.Somehow the referee deemed that young Keane had deserved a red card too which is very much is open to dispute. Man of the match Lewis Dennison. All in all a good solid 2nd half and goals from 5 different players, thats 6 wins on the bounce and through to the next round.
