NH4Israel Activities With the exception of holiday conflicts and summer break, NH4Israel hosts biweekly talks with refreshments at Manchester’s Temple Israel (TIM) at 6:30PM on alternate Wednesdays. If other venues and weekdays are scheduled, word of the change will be publicized in advance as well as posted on the calendar of events at NH4Israel.org. NH4Israel guest speakers generally address current issues surrounding the state of Israel as well as historical analyses of topics such as the Diaspora, anti-Semitism and the making of Israel. On September 10th at Temple Israel Manchester, NH4Israel collected over $250 from the “Hummus not Hammas Challenge” wherein NH4Israel members’ good faces (but not good names) were smeared to raise funds for the Friends of the IDF. Juxtaposed to this lightheartedness, was the Emil Campeanu’s presentation of the timely topic of Hamas’ use of human shields before and during Operation Protective Edge hereafter referred to as OPE. Emil brought to light things much of the media failed to mention in its OPE coverage. For example, since the founding of Hamas (Arabic for enthusiasm) in 1987, its founding charter has called for the establishment of an Islamic State in the areas now known as Gaza, “The West Bank” and the State of Israel. When one hears of the term “ISIL”, know that the term stands for the Islamic State In the Levant (today consisting of Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and part of southern Turkey). Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has gone on record affirming, that Hamas and the Islamic State, (or IS – a name ISIL is also called) are “branches of the same poison tree”. As Jews, we are aware that Deuteronomy 30:19 advises, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses; now choose life. On the other hand, Hamas’s officials have gone on record stating, “We desire death like you (Jews) desire life”. And the video report of the Indian (New Delhi TV) news team who bravely filmed a rocket launch immediately outside the ground floor of their foreign correspondent hotel room in residential Gaza City can be viewed at: ndtv/article/world/ndtv-exclusive-how-hamas-assembles-and-fires-rockets-571033 The Charter of Hamas sets the record straight in its agreement with PM Netenyahu: From Article Seven (on the JerusalemFund.Org site): “By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one… Hamas is one of the links in the Chain of Jihad in the confrontation with the Zionist invasion… Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!” We use no human shield; rather the shield of David, who in Psalm 133 reminds us: How good and pleasant is the dwelling of brothers in unity.
