NHA co-leader Dr Clive Peedell is calling for a proper investigation into claims that private patients are being given priority over the elderly and emergency cases. A whistleblower at UCH in London is claiming that “those who can’t pay get shoved to back of queue“. Speaking in the Daily Mirror, Dr Peedell warns of a 2-tier health service: “These allegations of private patients both queue-jumping emergency cases and pushing aside the elderly need proper investigation. If true they are a damning indictment of the government’s NHS policies: a financial squeeze on hospitals trusts coupled with a relaxation of the rules allowing them to earn more money from treating private patients. The inevitable result is a two-tier health service with the richest getting priority over the sick and poor nhap.org/dr-clive-peedell-calls-for-investigation-over-private-patients-queue-jumping-and-hits-out-at-hunts-attack-on-cancer-diagnosis-gps/
