NHN Sindh Chapter Held Provincial Dialogue event at July 16th, 2014 in Hyderabad to discuss the Thar Drought situation. The forum was attended by the representatives of civil society organizations, social activists, media persons, government officials, INGOs. The event was concluded based on below mentioned recommendations and demands: •Government should process the financial aid immediately to the families whose children were died during emergency. •Government should appoint doctors on 134 vacant posts to full fill the requirement of 186 Positions of Doctors •Livestock department have only 11 Veterinary Doctors for more than 75, 00,000 animals. While as per basic world requirement is One Doctor for 25,000 animals. According to total animal figure they need more than 200 Veterinary Doctors in Tharparkar. This requirement has to be full filled on urgent basis to face the disease outbreaks in district. •In Village Jhundan Nagarparkar 21 deaths of camels has been reported due to disease of “Surho”. Government of district has to take immediate action for it to prevent animals from disease, neither animals loss can make financially more vulnerable to the effected population. •NHN demands to government for the fulfillment of their commitment to ensure the food supplies to the effected population. •The distribution committee at UC level has not been observed functional, NHN demands from the Government to ensure its proper functionality to ensure the accountability. •The fodder distribution was made based on 5 kg per animal, but while monitoring of media it was measured 3.5 kg. Government has to ensure the proper complaint mechanism to address these kinds of issues •Vaccines for upcoming seasonal disease are not in stock, nor does Livestock department have the capacity of human resource enough as per standard. Government has to ensure its proper standards as per requirements and urgent needs. •Due to old census of 1989, government added ratio of 3.6 only in major cities while the villages were observed discriminated. Government should apply this additional ratio in all areas to avoid the discrimination. •Due to old census of 1998 allocated wheat has not been sufficient to distribute in villages, in results the distribution per HH has been done of 20 kg to 30 kg, but the commitment was of 50 kg. Government should initiate the mechanism which can ensure the equal distribution among all population.
