NHRC PRESIDENT PARTICIPATES IN FORUM: “JURISPRUDENCE OF EXTENDED FAMILY & SOLIDARITY BETWEEN GENERATIONS” H.E. NHRC president, Dr. Ali Bin Smaikh Al-Marry, participated in a forum held at Qatar National Convention Centre under the theme: “Jurisprudence of the Extended Family & Solidarity between Generations”. H.E. Excellency participated with a working paper titled: “Legislation and Family Laws in Qatar- Reflections on the policies and practices». The forum is jointly organized by The Doha International Institute for Family Studies and Development (DIIFSD), Project Marriage and Family Law Research of the Faculty of Law at the University of Brigham Young in the United States of America. The aim of the forum is to explore the principles of jurisprudence specially early cultural and philosophical theory, which regulates the legal recognition of man-made laws in extended family relations, such as the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren, cousins and other forms of relationships involved. The working paper submitted to the forum on behalf of Dr. Ali Al-Marri, by Dr. Asma Abdullah Al-Attiyah, an NHRC member dealt with the importance of family and its role in security, stability and progress of society, on one hand, and the role of the family and the national development strategy of the State of Qatar as envisaged in the 2030 Qatar National Vision, on the other, as well as the overall strategy of the family in the State of Qatar , and the family legislation in the state. Other working papers submitted to the forum included one by Dr. Amina Al-Jabir, prof of Sharai and jurisprudence in Islam, and another by Dr. Asmo Al-Attiyah, prof. at the Department of Psychological Sciences, Faculty of Education.
