NHS RIP-OFF ON PANORAMA TONIGHT BBC will accuse NHS staff of ripping off £Billions from the Health Service tonight. I worked a lot with the NHS and experienced much less theft than willful waste. I worked as an auditor for West Lancs DHA many years ago - including stock-taking medical supplies. Massive overstocking and careless storage wasted almost 30% of everything I audited. As an architect working on local PCT projects, their own engineers would deliberately over-specify. One of their electrical engineers prided himself on his spec going way over budget and always refused to compromise. On a dental surgery in Shrewsbury his electrics fit-out cost more than the rest of the whole project put together!! Tiny empire builders would spoil many projects and the wastage was astonishing.
