NICARAGUA UPDATE #4 Today was filled with both laughter and tears. We arrived in Yali ready for our final day where we did a VBS for older and younger children. In the younger group we worshiped and sang songs while our translator, Eli, accompanied us on the guitar. After we finished, we were treated to a short performance by some of the kids. Hannah Quinn taught on the “Saving Grace of God”, and the children were very receptive. We broke into small groups and finished up food distribution all around Yali. It was a joy praying for the people and providing them with a full bag of food and household necessities. Saying goodbye to our children was heartbreaking, but knowing that a seed has been planted and that God is present and working through Pastor Pineida and his church is a blessing. It has been a such short week, but we’ve accomplished much in showing God’s love in Nicaragua. Tomorrow we head to the zip lines and finish the week at the market in Masaya. It has been a tremendous blessing spending my time here in Nicaragua. Counting down the days til next year! -Chelsea Chin The day began typically with balls flying and paint appearing on every kid. A few minutes after we arrived, Olivia and Kathryn taught the younger kids about “What to do with the Evidence of Jesus” as the guys of our team took the older boys through the Evangecube, and Keenan shared his testimony. Afterwards, thanks to Tatum’s wonderful creativity, every kid painted their hand in various colors and made a collage to give away to the seniors of our team and to Pastor Natividad and his church. Right before we finished our lunch break, a huge rain came down, so all of the kids came inside the church to play and sing songs in Spanglish. Soon after the rain ended, all of our team returned to the basketball courts to play and take our final pictures until the block party began. The rain returned during the block party in La Concordia, but luckily that didn’t stop the multitude of people from coming to watch the movie about Jesus, share communion, and listen to Pastor Natividad speak about The Word. Overall, our day was a success. We all returned to the bus with a ton of tears in our eyes and Kleenexes in hand. No matter how saddened we are right now, we know that we will be able to see these new brothers and sisters in Christ one day soon again. This trip is something that is completely unforgettable. These new relationships and friendships will now forever be apart of our lives, and I cannot wait to return in just 364 days, 12 hours, and counting. - Bethany Fields
