NIGERIA: Before President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan - TopicsExpress

NIGERIA: Before President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan declares his intention to return to Aso Rock in 2015, let me remind the proponents and the protagonists of the so called TAN and its cousin MANTRA what GEAJ was reported to have said in 2011: President Goodluck Jonathan said he has no ambition to stay in office beyond 2015, assuring Nigerians in Diaspora that while he will not contest the 2015 election, he will ensure that this year’s election is free and fair. The President promised that if voted in for the next four years, he would ensure significant improvement in key sectors of the economy — security, power, education, road, health amongst others. “Without security, there is no government. So it is not debatable, it is something we have to addressed and we are working towards that with vigour. But if I’m voted into power within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything even if I am there for the next four years.” Jonathan said this while interacting with Nigerians mainly diplomats working in the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UNECA, and the African Union, AU, in Addis-Ababa. Now lets do some analysis and soul searching. Lets consider some fundamental questions: Questions 1: Why are some people hellbent that the president must continue in office considering that he didnt set out to contest the 2015 election in the first place Questions 2: What is the reasons for the sudden love affair between a man whose rating fell significantly because of his antipeople policies and corruption to someone being begged to continue in the same office by some sections of Nigeria Questions 3: What significantly noticeable improvement has taken place in key sectors of the economy. Lets take a cue from the presidents speech which highlighted security, power, education, road and health as areas of concern Question 4: Do you think the president has performed better. How do you rate the performance of this government? Question 5: Do you think that the president has the solution to Nigerias many problems. Do you agree with the view that Goodluck Jonathan is what Nigeria need right now. Question 6: Going by the above report, do you think the president should continue in office? Question 7: Assuming election is called tomorrow and the president is contesting, would you vote for him?
