NIGERIA NAVY SECONDARY SCHOOL, IBUSA: OFFICIAL GROUND BREAKING AND FOUNDATIUON LAYING. The sleepy town of Ibusa today witnessed a horde of personalities from all works of like at the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of the ultra modern Nigeria Navy Secondary School situated at a site equidistant to Ibusa and Ogwashi-Uku. As at 10.00am, high profile men in the society which include traditional chiefs led by the Obuzor of Ibuzo began to troop in their droves. Other dignitaries were drawn from the naval top brass in the country, while Delta State was fully represented with most of the serving commissioners, permanent secretaries, special advisers, members of the state house of assembly led by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei. It was not until 11.10am that the governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan drove in with his entourage. On inspecting a guard of honour mounted by the men of the Nigerian Navy, he was ushered to his seat through a red-carpet reception. The day’s event anchored by the experienced master of ceremony Silva Oforgu began officially with a prayer from a clergyman who was flanked by other clerics drawn from other denominations. The naval school no doubt is patterned to suit the status befitting of a 21st century educational set up as was hinted by the initiator and facilitator of the project, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba during his opening address. As a lover of education, he posited that the school will not only serve the people of Ibusa and Ogwashi-Uku on whose soil it is nearer, but the entire Delta State and Nigeria by extension. He appreciated the presence of the crème of the society who turned out en masse to grace the occasion. In another development, the governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in his address, commended the giant stride of the CNS, Rear Admiral Dele Ezeoba in bringing the school to Delta State, describing him as a worthy son of Delta State. He thanked the CNS for commissioning many projects across Delta State, a feat he sees as a rival, though a healthy one like he stressed. While stressing on the concern of his administration towards building a virile educational structure in the state, he was quick to seek the support of Ibusa youths on the development brought to their doorstep by their son. He then urged the contractors of the project to execute it with the fear of god. He praised the land of Ibusa for producing notable personalities whose voices shake the pillars of the society. He however commended the presence of the Obuzor of Ibuzo. He noted that the town has worthy sons who can mediate into squabbles emanating from traditional skirmishes in the town. This is in line with the peace initiative being brokered recently by the Transition Committee Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, a son of the soil, which is also being truncated by a division of traditional authorities in Ibusa. Governor Uduaghan reiterated the resolve of his administration to encourage and support laudable projects especially like the one being set up today, while thanking all for sparing out time to attend the ceremony. The ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony was performed by the following dignitaries in their order, the governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Obuzor of Ibuzo, Prof. L.C. Nwaoboshi, a former Naval Chief of Delta origin, Admiral Preston Omatsola, Rtd, the chairperson of NOWA, Mrs. Evelyn Ezeoba, the representative of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba and the Managing Director of the Chinese firm handling the project. Following this was the unveiling of the master plan of the gigantic project which the contractors and the CNS explained will accommodate ultra modern facilities like a standard playground, hostel blocks for boys and girls, well-equipped hospital, an uninterrupted power supply, water among numerous others. Among the dignitaries that graced the event were notable sons and daughters of Ibusa like the chairman of PDP Delta State, Chief Barr. Peter Nwaoboshi, Frank Okonta, Nnamdi Okonkwo and wife, Chief Sebastine Adigwe, Obi (Senator) Nosike Ikpo, Dr. Austin Izagbo, Sir Louis Abuah, naval service chiefs from various units in the country.
