NIGERIA POLITICIANS AND MUSICIANS: EPITOME OF INCONSISTENCY. The above caption may sound so odd but by the time you finish reading my story, the similarities between these vocations and people who practices them will be established. Today, I was at a function dominated by people in government (APC) and the opposition (PDP). There was free flow of interactions that suggested a very high level of political maturity. Though, at their private discussion, it was a different debate in entirety. When the time to dance and spray came, they all moved and continued with their bantering to the musician podium. Immediately they got their, a PDP member whispered into the ear of the musician and he began to sing.... bi mo ba se PDP, ewo lejo yin? Asiko to de lawa nlo oo. And the PDP people started spraying him Naira in thousands. He sighted some APC chieftains before him, he changed the tune and sang..... Ewo mo fe soro. Ti egbon base PDP, ti aburo se APC ko buru rara He started praise singing APC. And both parties were busy spraying the man... My point is this, musicians especially the apala, Fuji, juju, etc are very good in changing tunes to deceive their unsuspecting magas. If a man is short, if he is the one doing the spraying the lyric is..... akuru yejo. Iwo yato si awon aga ma gbon. When it is the turn of the tall man to spray, it changes to.... agun ta so lo. Iwo yato sawon kurubete. When a man with a clean white teeth is on stage, its a different praise. When it gets to the turn of the man with a brown rusted teeth,... they say he has a golden teeth and so on and forth. Same with politicians, they sing different tune to different political parties and government when they are involved or a beneficiary. Once they are out of the power scheme or party, the music changes... The party becomes clueless, wicked, corrupt, insensitive, incompetent, janjaweed, Islamic, etc. The government or party become everything negative and the new party or government in which they are beneficiary becomes everything good even when evidences abound that it is bad. These groups of people thrives in inconsistencies and make living in it. Strange and interesting!
