The link between child marriage and education is clear. Only 2 per cent of married girls in Nigeria go to school, compared to 69 per cent of unmarried girls, according to the United Nations. Some 73 per cent of married girls received no schooling, and three out of four cannot read at all. Child marriage and lack of female education leads to high fertility and rapid population growth. Therein lies much of the global population crisis.
