NIGERIAN NEWS WE ARE THE DUMB NOT THE POLITICIANS My guess is that all dogs eat shitttt, It might be easier to get a horse pass through the eye of the needle than get a practicing or retired Nigerian politician who is cleaner. But my worry is that we also take these things selectively. What comes to mind very quickly is that one can point to every politicians quick ascendance to wealth as soon as he or she gets to a power position in Nigeria. The mere fact that the presidency and the national assembly, together, get a chunk of 50% of our annual budget is enough reason for me to say that these guys are eminently corrupt. Year after year, these politicians tell us how a heaven of investment our land has become and yet year upon year we see an astronomical rise in the number of people who want to be Presidents, Governors, Senators, Reps Members, councilors, etc. Dr. Olusegun Aganga keeps whining this reeking news that it has never been so good with our investment portfolio. Dr. Onybuchi Chukwu resigned as a Health Minster to want to become a governor in Ebonyi. Oga talkative Labaran Maku, after telling us how rosy the investment climate has become in Nigeria, resigned as information Minsiter to want to become a Governor in Nasarawa State. We can site cases all over the breadth and width of the country. Fashola of Lagos state will not retire into investment. And so on and so forth. Every other governor who has served out his or her two terms wants to go to senate or become a minister. Peter Obi is one such person. The one they call Ochendo Global in Abia state wants to be a senator. Dr. Fayemi in Ekiti state will not go into investment even after he lost rightly or wrongly. And some of them who lose out, quickly fallback. They cannot even use the stolen wealth to start off any business and succeed in it. Ive not quite seen any politician or his kids who have opted for an investment that will not need government support to survive. Let somebody who knows tell me please. The question I am raising is, why do they not take a cut in the juicy investment platform they have turned out country into? Are they shy or do they loath diving into the virile investment ocean to make all the money therein or has politics become more money spilling than religion? I keep saying that these politicians are not dumb. We the people are.
