NIGHTRIDER 2013: £18,000 Raised EVERY pound has been counted and the Hornets’ Community Trust is now delighted to reveal that more than £18,000 was raised by its team of cyclists who took part in London Nightrider 2013. The fantastic sum of funds will be split between Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust and the Watford Peace Hospice. The team of 40 – which included Trust staff and external supporters – took on the 100km moonlit bike ride through the streets of London in June, setting out between 11pm and midnight on a Saturday night and finishing between 7am and 8am the next day. Starting at Alexandra Palace, the cycle ride took in iconic city centre sights including Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, Canary Wharf, the Millennium Dome and the Olympic Stadium. The amount raised will provide much-needed funds to support the Trust’s continued work providing sporting and educational activities for the disabled, as well as the Peace Hospice, which cares for people living with a life-limiting or terminal illness and supports families across south west Hertfordshire. Neil Hart, the Trust’s Head of Community Development, said: “The ride was a fantastic but exhausting experience and I would like to thank everyone who took part on our behalf and everyone who made a donation. “We have raised an amazing amount of money and it really is testament to all our supporters. Your support is vital in order for the Trust to maintain our ongoing commitment to making a real difference in OUR community.” A huge thank you to all the riders who took part and everyone who made a donation.
