NIMechE 2014 in Review: Engr Amos Komolafe Investiture as Lagos State Chairman of NIMechE The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Lagos Chapter has inaugurated new leadership under Engr. Komolafe Amos. This follows the successful tenure of Engr. Dr Adeyemo who piloted the affairs of the Institution in the last two years. Under his tenure the Chapter made a lot of progress as well as commanding corporate loyalty during the period under his stewardship. The event held at Oranmiyan Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel Ikeja was chaired by the National Chairman, Engr. Prof. Adisa, A. Bello and has in attendance other distinguished guests as Engr. Dr. Mrs Gloria Elemo, Director/CEO Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi and Dr. Adebayo Jimoh, GMD Odua Investment Co Limited as Special guests of honour. Also in attendance were Engr. Ayo Fanimokun, Engr. Tunde Zedomi, Engr. Babagana Muhammad and a host of others from engineering and other professions. Mr. Yinka Fasuyi, CC/CEO Supreme management Training and Consulting limited, Ibadan delivered the inaugural lecture at the event: it was titled, “Entrepreneurship for Development: The place for Engineering.” Engr. Adeyemo thanked the members and the executive committee members he worked with over the past two years for their dedication and contributions to the success of his administration. He urged them to continue to support the new chairman who he believes is capable of taking the Chapter to greater height. The New Chairman, after his swearing in unveiled his plans which cut across Membership drive, Professional Development and Training, partnership with industries, promotion of entrepreneurship, Young Engineers’ development, Professional Practice. Mr. Yinka delivered a lecture on Entrepreneurship for Development: The place for Engineering. He posited that Engineers are historically the engine room on which successful entrepreneurship thrives and, citing numerous successful firms, engineers by their creativity and problem solving abilities should endeavor to be part of entrepreneurship wherever they could. We fully align with Franklin D. Roosevelt: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” Therefore, we shall continue to look out for ways to serve more of our members.
