NO INFLATION THEY SAY??? 97/3% lean to fat ratio ground beef at Walmart is $5 a pound now. The high fat, ground beef as they call it... you know the stuff that looks almost white because of the fat content is almost $4 a pound! This is the stuff that when you brown it up you end up with a few chunks of actual meat floating in a cup of grease. Frozen shrimp same price but the bags have gone from 16oz. to 12oz. Who in the world goes to the seafood department and orders 12ounces of shrimp. Fortunately Kroger and HEB have not stooped to this yet. I bought Pepperidge Farm dried cornbread crumbs for Thanksgiving dressing. The price is the same as it was last year however last year the bags were 16oz and this year they are 14oz. Frozen veg. used to all be 16oz bags...now they are mostly 12oz bags. The chip isle is probably the worst. We dont have to have chips...let those things set on the shelf and rot and they will quickly come off of the ridiculous prices they are charging for a small bag of air with a handful of broken chips in it. That is about 25% inflation on food in the last couple years which in the real world is a mild form of hyperinflation. I could rant for about an hour on this but you get the point.
