NO TITLES NO DRILLING, SALAWA, KIPKORO RESIDENTS DEMAND By #BCNcorrespondent Residents of Kipkoro and Salawa area of Baringo Central Sub County are opposing Oil drilling by Tullow Oil unless title deeds are given to them. In two separate meetings convened by Tullow Oil officials, today in Kipkoro & Salawa, to dicuss about the ongoing project of Tullow, the residents demanded that transparency be exercised and titles be given to deserved individuals and notland grabbers. This comes barely two days after a similar move by Kimalel residents who oppose the Kimalel Goat Auction citing unfairness in the system followed to compensate those displaced from the new auction site. The Kimalel tussle saw the torching of the Kikuyu traditional hut built last year before the auction. More to follow.
