NO on by-law changes Districts: Districts are a good concept but - TopicsExpress

NO on by-law changes Districts: Districts are a good concept but not the way the by-law change is written. For districts to be fair and just only the members of each district should vote for their director. The voting should not be at large voting. Currently, the Cooperative has 12 Board members and under the proposed Bylaw amendment, there will still be 12 Board members. If the Bylaw amendment is approved there will be three directors from each of the four districts, and each director will continue to serve a three year term. Under the proposed Bylaw amendment all members would continue to vote for candidates in all four districts. The way the change is written all members vote for each director position in each district. Why would District 1 and District 4 members want the central area (District 2 and District 3) electing District 1 and District 4 directors? To provide equal representation only the members of their district should be able to vote for their director. This is why I am asking for a vote of NO. Qualifications of Directors: Why discriminate against present and former employees of Ozark Border and keep them from running as a candidate for the board? Five years have to pass after they are no longer an employee before they can be a candidate under the by-law change. Also, why discriminate against someone who has a relative working for Ozark Border? Under the proposed by-law change a person cannot be a candidate for the board if they have a family member working at Ozark Border. For 75 years this has not been a problem. Remember a director is one of twelve. To be fair and just why would we discriminate in this manner? This why I am asking for a vote of NO.
