NOBEL PRIZE FOR ECONOMICS FOR REAL BRAZILIAN PLAN. In July this year we celebrate 20 years of success of the Real Plan, the most successful monetary stabilization plan of all time in Brazil. Throughout this period, the average inflation until March 2014, was approximately 7.4% per year. If the inflationary outcome deserves celebrations, mainly because before the actual plan, inflation was around 85% per month. During the administration of former President Itamar Franco, economists Pérsio Arida, André Lara Resende, Gustavo Franco, Edmar Bacha, Pedro Malan, Clóvis Carvalho and the American Winston Frisch, were primarily responsible for the planning and execution of the Real Plan. The plan was divided into three stages: The first stage was the program of immediate action, which restored a set of measures aimed at reducing costs and improving the efficiency of the union in the year 1993 The second stage, in 1994 issued to interim measure in. 434 on 2/28/94 that created the URV.
