NON-DEGREE STUDY / PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE U.S.: Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program Competition Announcement The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the competition for the 2014-2015 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. The deadline for submitting application materials is Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Purpose and Thematic Focus: The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program provides ten months of graduate-level, non-degree academic study and related professional experience in the United States. The Humphrey Fellowship is one of the most selective and prestigious exchange programs offered by the United States Government as it combines academic and professional training. Successful Humphrey Fellows are mid-career professionals in the public or private sector with demonstrated potential for national leadership and commitment to public service. Since 1978, over 5,000 fellows have been selected from more than 156 countries, including 45 from Botswana. Fields of study include: communication and journalism, agricultural development/agricultural economics, business, economic development (finance and banking), natural resources and environmental management, technology policy and management; and public health policy and management. Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must be citizens of Botswana ; have five or more years of substantial professional experience in Botswana after completion of a four-year undergraduate university degree; demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service commitment; a demonstrated role in the policy aspect of the field of specialization; little or no previous experience studying or working in the U.S. or another developed country; and written permission from the employer to participate in the program. Financial Benefits: Tuition/fees, a monthly allowance, international/domestic air travel, accident/sickness insurance, and funding for educational materials and professional activities. Application Requirements: 1. Complete and submit electronically the on-line application. 2. Submit the following to the U.S. Embassy: A paper printout of the online generated application with an original signature, certified copies of higher education diploma and degree certificates; all post-secondary official transcripts; and three professional references. Online application forms are available at: apply.embark/student/humphrey/fellowship/. Application Deadline and Submission: Application packets should be mailed to the following address: Humphrey Program Application, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy, P.O. Box 90, Gaborone. Packets can also be hand-delivered to the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section. The deadline for submitting application materials is Tuesday, April 18, 2014.
