NOREASTER IMMINENT!!! TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY LONG DURATION - TopicsExpress

NOREASTER IMMINENT!!! TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY LONG DURATION EVENT FOR NORTHEAST STATES COASTAL FLOODING LIKELY FROM TUESDAY ON European presents and utterly bizzare and rare solution along the east coast as the upper air storm gets essentially trapped at the east coast with no place to go. If this is real, then this will be a long duration event playing out in a number of ways. Tuesday and Tuesday night will feature a windswept soaking rain for the coast with heavy wet snows for NE Pennsylvania norheastward into central and northern New England. Wednesday and beyond features great uncertainty. Cold air will be drawn south and eastward and this will probably bring snow southward down the Hudson Valley and into Northern and Central NJ. It is like that it will be accumulating snow for inland and elevated areas though amounts at this point are sketchy and speculative. A lot depends on how the upper low tracks (such as it does). The surface storm will stall south of Long Island and this will keep northeast winds blowing for quite sometime enhancing tides possibly into Thursday. Thankfully Saturday night was the full moon so at least from that standpoint the astronomical effect will decrease with each tide however water will be piled on near the coastline enhancing flooding at high tide on Long Island and the New Jersey back bays. Needless to say we have a tough forecasting week ahead. Please no snow amount questions for the coast as this cannot be answered with any degree of confidence until I have a handle on how this all plays out. I will paint a broad brush view of snow expectations later this morning. Needless to say a fascinating week ahead!
