NORFOLK– A 29-year-old Norfolk man was killed Monday night in a traffic accident that caused him to become separated from his motorcycle and slide under an oncoming SUV. Norfolk Police Captain Michael Bauer says rescue crews were called to the area of East Omaha Avenue and Pierce Street just before 8pm. Bauer says when authorities arrived, they found 29-year-old Brandon Blum pinned under a suburban. According to witnesses, Blum was traveling east on Omaha Avenue and was overtaking a car that had just turned east onto Omaha avenue and was merging into the lane that Blum was in. Bauer says Blum drove up on the median, became separated from the motorcycle and slid under the westbound suburban while the motorcycle collided head-on with the SUV. Blum was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, 18-year-old Humberto Costilla of O’Neill, nor his passengers were injured. The accident remains under investigation by the Norfolk Police Division Advanced Accident Investigation Team.
