NORMAN, Okla. – The Sooners continue to grind through spring break with a pair of midweek games at home. On Tuesday Oklahoma hosts Big 12 foe TCU in a non-conference match-up and then takes on Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for a 6:00 pm first pitch. Oklahoma is 11-2 at home this season and 15-5 overall. Last week’s Big 12 Player of the Week, junior Mac James is currently hitting .472 with 17 RBI and 18 runs scored. The Sooners have five starters hitting .300 or better, including sophomore left fielder Hunter Haley (.362) with a team-high 22 runs and 17 RBI and freshman third baseman Sheldon Neuse (.300) leads the team with 12 extra-base hits and 19 runs scored. Eight OU pitchers have thrown more than 10 innings with an earned run average below 4.00. Sophomore RHP Ralph Garza Jr. (1.02) is 3-0 with four saves in 13 relief appearances. Promotions: Tuesdays game vs. TCU is Tasty Tuesday with 50 cent hot dogs and Wednesdays game against UALR will feature Baseball Bingo. Bingo cards will be distributed to the first 500 fans to play along during the game for the opportunity to win prizes. 1st - On the Air Both games will also be televised by Sooner Sports TV with Chad McKee (p-b-p) and Jay Payton (color) on the call. 2nd - Series Sweep Oklahoma picked up its first weekend sweep of the season with wins over Belmont, 4-3, 6-5 and 10-1. The Sooners won in extra-inning, walk-off fashion in the first two games. Redshirt-junior right fielder Taylor Alspaugh delivered the game-winning single on Friday night and sophomore first baseman Anthony Hermelyn followed with a game-winning double in the 11th on Saturday. The OU bullpen pitched 16 innings in the series and allowed just one unearned run. 3rd - Scouting the Horned Frogs TCU is 12-7 on the year, and like Oklahoma had a bye in the opening weekend of Big 12 play. Outfielder Boomer White is hitting a team-best .395 with 16 runs and 13 RBI. Outfielder Cody Jones is second at .299 and has scored 15 runs and stolen 13 bases. RHP Trey Teakell is scheduled to start for the Horned Frogs. He is 1-0 in seven relief appearances with a 2.57 ERA and has nine strikeouts in seven innings pitched. The TCU pitching staff owns a 2.11 ERA and has held opponents to a .220 average. 4th - Making Some Noise Neuse was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week after batting .529 (9-for-17) in four games. He slugged 1.000 with a .600 on-base percentage. Neuse went 4-for-4 with two doubles against UTA at Glode Life Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday. He tripled twice on Saturday against Belmont and scored three times. 5th - Last Time vs. TCU The Sooners won three narrow, low-scoring games last season; 3-2, 3-1 and 4-3. Game one was an extra-innings victory with Max White scoring the game-winning run in the 12th on a passed ball. Left-hander Jacob Evans nailed down a save in game two and got the win in game three on his way to Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors. 6th - Scouting the Trojans Arkansas-Little Rock enters the week at 9-8 overall and 0-3 in the Sun Belt following a sweep at Arkansas State. Second baseman Tanner Rockwell is the Trojans’ top hitter at .350. He has hit three home runs and driven in 18 all while being the only player batting above .300. RHP Chad Bradford will get the start. He is 1-0 in five appearances and three starts with a 3.86 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. 7th - All-Time vs. UALR The Sooners leads the all-time series against the Trojans, 21-5, and have played all 26 games at L. Dale Mitchell Park. UALR is currently riding a three-game win streak over OU. The longest win streak in the series is 13 by the Sooners between 1986, the year of their first meeting, and 1997. 8th - What a Relief Last week, the Sooner bullpen posted a 0.39 ERA in 23 innings of work. OU relievers combined for 24 strikeouts to just eight walks and held opponents to a .160 batting average. Garza made three appearances and recorded three runs, while giving up the only two runs, one unearned, by the unit. Senior RHP Kindle Ladd pitched eight-scoreless inning in two appearances. 9th - Shave for the Brave On April 3, Oklahoma will join the fight against childhood cancer by hold a “Shave for the Brave” event following practice. Shave for the Brave works in conjunction with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to raise money for cancer research. The event will also serve as an opportunity for the Sooners in their countdown to 19 Ways. Extras - Up Next Big 12 play opens for the Sooners when they host Kansas State for a three-game set beginning Friday night at 6:00 pm.
