JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Tooling Engineer II Department:Tooling Engineering Reports To: Manager - Tooling Engineering & Development FLSA Status:Salaried Exempt Pay Grade:Salaried Grade 11E Scope of Job: Knows and applies a variety of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under minimal supervision performing tasks that are varied and somewhat complex in nature. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals that require a considerable degree of evaluation, originality, latitude, and independent judgment. Job Summary: Designs and develops production tooling to support the NAL manufacturing process. Provides support and expertise to NAL facilities and tooling vendors to ensure the production of quality injection molds, and that they are built to company standards, within budgeted cost, and completed on time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Reviews product designs for tool construction 2. Reviews Mold Spec Sheets with Lead Plant Tool Engineer and tool vendor 3. Obtains approvals of tool designs at all stages (Preliminary, Intermediate, and Final) 4. Travels to tooling vendors for on-site follow up and tool tryouts 5. Oversees pre-production Engineering changes 6. Enters the E-Req into the system and assigns the Mold Numbers for all new tools 7. Requests Part Data Transfers to tool vendor 8. Enters and maintains information in the Master Mold list 9. Creates Weekly Tool Progress Reports and distributes them to the project team 10. Drives the countermeasures on any Q,C,D issues from the Weekly Tool Progress Reports 11. Maintains mold trial process parameters and Mold Trial History Form with open issues 12. Obtains mold prints and 3-D data for mold designs, and maintains them in departmental directory 13. Maintains relevant information on all tooling in TeamCenter Community; including the Weekly Tool Progress Reports, steel certifications, CMM checks, process sheets, and Mold Trial History Forms 14. Participates in continuous improvement activities, as required 15. Stays current with state of the art tooling and processes 16. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements: 1. Must meet one of the following Education and Experience requirements: b. BS in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience; OR c. Associate’s Degree in Tool/Die Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline, plus 4 to 6 years of related manufacturing experience; OR d. Journeyman Tool/Die Maker, plus 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience JOB DESCRIPTION: Tooling Engineer II page 2 Requirements (continued): 2.
