NORTH SUBURBAN CROSSOVER Lakes (7-1, 6-0) at Mundelein (1-7, 0-6) When: 7:30 p.m., today Last week: Lakes def. North Chicago, 51-34; Mundelein lost to Warren, 54-0. Skinny: With a victory, Lakes would be the only Prairie Division team to defeat a Lake Division team in North Suburban Conference crossover action this season. But the Eagles have even bigger fish to fry. They would essentially guarantee themselves a first-round home playoff game and a top seed with a win. Without a doubt, theres a lot that has led up to Friday, Lakes coach Luke Mertens said. It would be nice for our division to win a crossover. We dont get a lot of respect and if we want to change that, weve got to start beating the other (Lake) side. We also want to get that home game. Its important to be able to play at home. ... The Eagles have been on the road for three straight weeks. But its hardly reflected in their numbers, which have been impressive from start to finish. Lakes leads the entire North Suburban Conference with 42.4 points per game and ranks No. 1 in the Prairie Division with just 14.8 points allowed per game. Mundelein, on the other hand, is allowing a whopping 37.9 points per game, tops in the Lake. On the flip side, the Mustangs score only 11.3 points per game … Running back Mike Brey is coming off a big game for Lakes. He scored 5 touchdowns last week against North Chicago, including a defensive touchdown off a 47-yard fumble return … Mundelein totaled just 158 yards in getting shut out by Warren last week … Lakes is on a 7-game winning streak since losing its season opener to Grayslake North. Mundelein is the opposite. The Mustangs have lost seven straight games after defeating Wheeling in Week 1. — Patricia Babcock McGraw You can read the entire article using the link below.....
