NOT A GIN Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) was a German Fluxus, a happening and performance artist, sculptor, installation and graphic artist, art theorist and all-round pedagogue of art. Among other materials, he worked with fat and felt. A caretaker and maintenance man once mistook one of Beuys’ installations for dirt and started cleaning a fat corner (made of margarine). Some of the art piece was saved and, more than 30 years later, two young artists decided to distil a drinkable spirit from the leftovers. The rarity of the remains and the story behind it make those few bottles rather expensive. The taste however is a totally different matter; apparently it tastes of Parmesan in a weird kind of way. Although Im an admirer of Beuys’ art, I also like a tasty drink. So I think Ill skip this one.
